In response, women in Afghanistan and Afghan women in other countries are doing something extraordinary. They’re singing out in protest – and posting videos on social media.
The videos often end with this line: “My voice is not immodest.”
Even as these women say they feel alone in their risky protest, they are not afraid to sing out for their rights.
