 | NAGOYA -- Sometimes a luxury brand can be too exclusive.
Citing shortages of critical components, including onboard semiconductors, Toyota is limiting how many orders each Lexus dealership in Japan can take.
Once a dealership reaches the limit, no more orders will be accepted. Deliveries of the vehicles themselves could take months. Toyota expects parts to remain in short supply through 2023.
Other Toyota brands are not affected. Lexus models incorporate more than 1,000 chips, hundreds more than a typical Toyota car, making them more vulnerable to shortages.
