Wintry Mix Expected Heading Into Weekend

Middle Tennessee could see another round of sleet, snow, and freezing rain throughout the morning.

A winter weather advisory is in place for several counties, including Putnam and Cumberland, through 6 a.m.

Forecasters say areas along and north of I-40 face the highest risk for slick roads, while southern areas will mostly get cold rain.

Light snow and ice could accumulate in northeast Middle Tennessee, with road conditions potentially hazardous for the morning commute.

Cops Let Student Take Exam Before Arrest

A Tennessee State University student was arrested Thursday after taking his final exam, following a campus traffic stop.

Police say 21-year-old Chase Jones, who was banned from driving on campus due to prior violations, ignored an officer's attempt to pull him over but eventually stopped near the education building.

The officer allowed the student to complete his exam before arresting him for evading and disorderly conduct, after Jones allegedly became combative during questioning.

TSU has not commented on the incident.

Korean War Soldier Identified After 75 Years

Army Cpl. George C. Hagie of Kingsport, who was killed in the Korean War in 1950, has been formally identified after 75 years.

The 18-year-old died in battle near the Jangjin Reservoir and was buried as an unknown in Honolulu's National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.

Advances in DNA and forensic analysis allowed the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency to confirm his identity.

Hagie will be laid to rest in Johnson City in May 2026.
