| 475 Arrested During Federal Immigration Raid Federal authorities arrested 475 individuals on Thursday during a major immigration enforcement operation at the Hyundai–LG Energy Solution battery plant construction site in Bryan County. The raid was the largest single-site operation in Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) history. The individuals detained were found to be in the country illegally or in violation of their status and were employed through a network of contractors and subcontractors at the site. They all remain in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody. | Emory University Closes DEI Office Emory University announced that it will close its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) offices and discontinue related programs. The decision was made to comply with new federal mandates requiring higher education institutions to alter or eliminate DEI-focused initiatives. Emory University Interim President Leah Ward Sears said in a statement that the university remains committed to fairness, belonging, and opportunity and that it will assist affected employees through the transition. The Georgia NAACP has expressed concern over the move, stating that it raises questions about future support for marginalized communities at the university.
