International Buyers Fueled Spain's Luxury Home Market Last Year

Foreign home buyers boosted Spain's luxury real estate market last year, according to Engels & Volkers. There was a significant uptick in sales to foreign buyers, who made up more than half of the firm's clientele in the country, a notable increase from approximately 40% the year before. Looking ahead to the remainder of this year, job creation, potential interest rate reductions and increased immigration are all positive indicators, according to Gonzalo Bernardos, a professor of Economics at the University of Barcelona. Menéndez Brothers Mansion in Beverly Hills Sells for $17 Million

The Beverly Hills, California, mansion where the Menéndez brothers murdered their parents in 1989 has sold for $17 million—exactly 28 years after the brothers were convicted. The Mediterranean-style villa was built in 1927 and redesigned in 1984. Spanning more than 9,000 square feet, the home has seven bedrooms, a pool, a tennis court and a guest house. It had been listed for just under $20 million, but homes that are sites of highly publicized murders typically sell at discount. Though it's still quite a profit for the seller, telecommunications exec Sam Delug, who bought the mansion in 2001 for $3.7 million. Realtor.com

Century-Old Mansion Selling Outside Asheville, North Carolina, for $7.5 Million

A 1920s mansion has hit the market outside Asheville, North Carolina, for $7.5 million. The six-bedroom Tudor-revival house spans 13,000 square feet in the affluent suburb of Biltmore Forest and is one of the town's five original homes. The 4.4-acre property includes a pool, gardens, a greenhouse and a detached garage. The home, which last sold for $5.4 million in 2004, is owned by an entity based in Palm Beach, Florida.
