Thousands of stars including Sarah Paulson, Chelsea Handler, Christian Slater, Sandra Oh, Daveed Diggs and Kal Penn have signed the letter, which is addressed to the SAG-AFTRA Negotiating Committee. “Back in June, before we went on strike, a large group of members signed an open letter telling our leaders that we would rather go on strike than take a bad deal. Now, more than 100 days into our strike, that is still true. In the late 1960s, Gram Parsons, fresh off The Byrds and becoming close pals with the Rolling Stones, signed on to star in a sci-fi film, Saturation 70. Directed by Anthony Foutz, who worked with the likes of Orson Welles and Richard Lyford, the film was shot across Joshua Tree and Los Angeles. But Saturation 70, which also featured the work of Douglas Trumbull, the pioneering special effects wizard behind 2001: A Space Odyssey and Blade Runner, was never finished, and the footage subsequently vanished. Macy, John Corbett, Joel Courtney ( The Kissing Booth), DeVon Franklin ( Jesus Revolution), and Stephanie Szostak ( A Million Little Things) are among those set to star in On Fire, a new film from Sean McNamara ( Reagan). The Daily Show introduced another new face this week: Grace Kuhlenschmidt. Kuhlenschmidt is a stand-up comedian, actress and writer, who recurred in the final season of Max’s Search Party. In the upcoming musical adaptation of 2004 film The Notebook, there will be three versions of the central couple, Allie and Noah, at different stages of life. Dorian Harewood will return to Broadway after a 45-year absence, pairing with Tony Award-winner Maryann Plunkett to play the couple in their later years. The youngest version will be portrayed by Jordan Tyson and John Cardoza, with Joy Woods and Ryan Vasquez taking on the middle period. |

Trending Amazon reported third-quarter results well ahead of Wall Street forecasts, with total revenue at $143.1 billion and earnings per share of 94 cents. That revenue number is up 13% from the same period a year ago. 🔻 Wall Street gave decidedly mixed reviews to Comcast's third-quarter earnings report on Thursday. OBITUARIES 🕯 Pam Jackson, a longtime executive of the former 20th Century Fox International Distribution division of 21st Century Fox, has died. Jackson passed away September 27 in Los Angeles, surrounded by family, after a long battle with cancer. She was 65. 🕯 Investigative reporter Arnold Diaz , whose popular “Shame On You” consumer series ran for more than 20 years, has died at 74 after battling multiple myeloma. Diaz retired in 2022 after a 50-year career in television journalism, during which he won 48 Emmy Awards. 🕯 Anthony Holden, whose chronicles of the Royal Family’s troubles caused him to be referred to at one point as “The Most Reviled Man in Britain,” died on Oct. 7 at his home in London. | Hip-Hop Royalty - Kurtis Blow, co-founder of the Hip Hop Alliance, joined SAG-AFTRA outside Paramount to call an end to the strike that has lasted for over 100 days. He told Deadline his membership in the guild was instrumental in helping to save his life after he had a heart transplant last year that was covered under SAG-AFTRA’s health plan. Blow is widely considered the first commercially successful rapper and was the first to sign to a major record label, Mercury. |
