More than 6,000 U.S. personnel will participate, the largest contingent in decades. The war drills will include Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea and Singapore, while China, India and Australia are due to take part in humanitarian aid exercises.   Next BOJ governor upper house hearings Kazuo Ueda, nominee for governor of the Bank of Japan, will attend a confirmation hearing in the upper house of parliament, following his appearance in the lower house on Friday. Ueda is expected to stick to neutral ground to secure smooth approval from lawmakers in a confirmation vote slated for mid-March.   Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Mobile World Congress, hosted in the Spanish city of Barcelona, is the largest industry fair for connectivity technologies. The 2023 event will be the first in the post-pandemic era after most countries ended travel restrictions, including China. Key Chinese tech companies aiming to expand their European market presence, including Huawei, Oppo and Xiaomi, will attend the show, where the latest smartphones, wireless chips, connected cars and infrastructure technologies will be showcased.   City-Tech.Tokyo The Tokyo metropolitan government will host its first large-scale startup event, City-Tech.Tokyo, on Monday and Tuesday. More than 300 companies from the country and overseas are due to participate. The meeting -- in which Moscow has confirmed the participation of Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov -- is expected to focus on pressing global problems, including food security and the debt troubles of developing nations.   China PMI China's release of the official Purchasing Managers' Index for February will indicate whether the world's second-largest economy kept up momentum after rebounding to growth last month following three months of contractions.   GDP: Australia   Earnings: Weibo, Nio   THURSDAY   Raisina dialogue India's flagship annual conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics kicks off. Jointly organized by the country's Ministry of External Affairs and New Delhi-based think tank Observer Research Foundation, the three-day conference is designed as a multi-stakeholder, cross-sectoral discussion. It features heads of state, cabinet ministers and local government officials, as well as leaders from the private sector, media and academia.   Earnings: Bilibili   WEEKEND   China's 'two sessions' commence The annual meeting of China's top political advisory body, the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, begins on Saturday in Beijing.   China's most important annual event on the economy kicks off on Sunday with the sitting of the National People's Congress. Premier Li Keqiang is expected to deliver a government work report that includes growth targets for 2023, as well as fiscal budget and policy support for recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. With Sunday's speech, Li will also wrap up his decade-long stint as the second top official after President Xi Jinping, before a new cabinet to be led by the latter's protege Li Qiang takes over.
