The saga rumbles on | | The bin strike may be over but there's clearly little love lost between Unite and the city council. It promises to be a difficult end to the year for a number of reasons like the cost of living crisis and several ongoing strikes at a number of organisations and this week it emerged that 35 senior bin drivers and crew have applied for voluntary redundancy, with some departing employees getting packages worth £100k. The latest back and forth between Unite and the council was amongst one of our best-read stories this week and it's no surprise. At least Wasps and the Sky Blues are pals again. In other news, a block of flats that has towered over Wyken for 60 years is finally coming down. Vincent Wyles House is currently empty and fenced off, with demolition expected to begin in October. The changing face of Coventry is something we love writing about, and while many will have fond memories of the flats in Attoxall Road we doubt many tears will be shed at its demise. | | | |
