 | TOKYO -- Yasukazu Hamada, who served as defense minister from 2008 to 2009, will return to the post today in a cabinet reshuffle by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida that is expected to feature a mix of old hands and fresh eyes. The post of health, labor and welfare minister will also see a veteran as COVID-19 response coordinator Katsunobu Kato is expected to be tapped. He held the position twice under former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The 19-member cabinet includes nine first-time appointees. Only two are women. The new ministers face issues including inflation, the coronavirus pandemic, energy security and revisions to national security documents this year. Read here
