One of the oldest mansions in Australia, a 166-year-old Victorian-style house in South Melbourne, sold for A$10.1 million (US$7.13 million) at an auction over the weekend. The price was A$1 million above its reserve. The two-story abode has five bedrooms, four bathrooms and a modernized interior. Hong Kong New Developments Benefit From Strong Pent-up Demand
Several new developments in Hong Kong launched sales over the weekend in anticipation of a release of pent-up demand that built during the latest Covid-19 restrictions. The Quinn Square Mile, developed by Henderson Land Development, sold 51 units out of 138 on offer on Sunday, with the majority of buyers being younger than 30 years old, according to agents. Sophie Schmidt, the 35-year-old daughter of former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, has paid $29.2 million for a house across the street from her main residence in the Beverly Hills area of Los Angeles. The new purchase offers more than 10,000 square feet of living space with five bedrooms, seven bathrooms and a roof desk that "can fit 300 people for a sit-down dinner" according to the listing.
