Chronic knee pain creates a frustrating trap: the joint hurts, so you move less. Moving less reduces circulation to the area, which slows healing and increases stiffness. Painkillers mask the discomfort without addressing the underlying inflammation. Physical therapy works — but at $150+ per visit, consistent treatment adds up fast. |
RejuvaKnee combines three clinically studied therapies into one wearable device. Soothing heat increases blood flow to the joint. Therapeutic massage reduces muscle tension and improves circulation. Targeted compression helps flush swelling and inflammation. Slip it on, select your intensity, and let it work for 15–30 minutes. Most users notice a difference in their first session. |

Mental Health Disorders Are Now the No. 1 Cause of Disability Worldwide |
|
|
About 1 in 5 pregnancies now result in adverse outcomes — but a new study shows a surprisingly simple habit could change that. |
Mental health disorders have surpassed cardiovascular disease, cancer, and musculoskeletal conditions to become the leading cause of disability worldwide, according to a sweeping new study published in The Lancet. Researchers analyzed data from 204 countries and found that nearly 1.2 billion people were living with a mental disorder in 2023 — almost double the number recorded in 1990. |
The burden hasn't been evenly shared. Rates of major depressive disorder have risen roughly 24% since the COVID-19 pandemic began, while anxiety disorders surged more than 47%. The study found that the crisis peaks among 15-to-19-year-olds — a critical developmental window — and that women are disproportionately affected, likely due to caregiving pressures, gender inequality, and higher rates of abuse. Only about 9% of people with major depression globally receive minimally adequate treatment. |
Researchers say the rise reflects both the lingering trauma of pandemic stress and deeper structural forces including poverty, insecurity, and social isolation that have been building for years. |
WHY IT MATTERS Mental health has long been treated as secondary to physical health — underfunded, undertreated, and underreported. This study forces that conversation into the open. When mental disorders cause more disability than heart disease or cancer, it signals that our healthcare systems are organized around the wrong priorities. |

Quick Health Brief |
A couple of things worth a minute this week. |
🧄 Blood Pressure · What Happens When You Combine Garlic and Hibiscus Tea? |
Both garlic and hibiscus tea have individually shown real promise for supporting healthy blood pressure — and research suggests using them together may amplify the effect. Garlic contains compounds that help dilate blood vessels and improve circulation, with studies linking regular consumption to meaningful reductions in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. |
Hibiscus tea works through a different but complementary pathway: its anthocyanins and flavonoids have been shown in multiple clinical trials to lower systolic pressure by around 6 to 11 points compared to control groups. Read more → |
🥩 Nutrition · 6 Healthier Ways to Eat Processed Meat |
Most people aren't giving up bacon or deli meat completely — and experts say you don't have to. What matters more is how often you eat it, how much you use, and which products you choose. |
The biggest risks with processed meat come from high sodium and saturated fat content, both of which stress the heart over time. Dietitians recommend checking labels for sodium below 500mg per serving, choosing lower-fat cuts like turkey or chicken-based options, and treating processed meat as a flavor accent rather than the main event. RECIPE OF THE WEEK |
|
|
|
This is comfort food that actually earns its place on the plate. The chickpea and tomato topping simmers into something rich and deeply savory — almost like a stew — while the sweet potato beneath it provides fiber, natural sweetness, and a soft, creamy base that holds everything together beautifully. |

A 20-minute full-body yoga flow that moves through the whole body without rushing — building warmth, opening tight spots, and leaving you feeling more settled than when you started. This is the kind of practice that works as a morning reset, a midday break, or a wind-down before dinner. No experience required. |
If you've been meaning to add more movement to your week but struggle to find the time or motivation, this is a good place to start. Twenty minutes is short enough to fit anywhere, and the full-body format means no muscle group gets ignored. |

PRIMAL STRESS RELIEF |
Standard ashwagandha supplements require multiple doses throughout the day because the active withanolides are absorbed and cleared quickly. Most people take one capsule in the morning and feel nothing by afternoon — which is when stress hits hardest. |
