Further Reading from MarketBeat.com Insiders Are Selling These 3 High-Flying StocksWritten by Leo Miller. Article Published: 1/19/2026.
Article Highlights - MP Materials and Oklo have seen sizable insider selling, but a meaningful portion occurred under 10b5-1 plans, which reduces the near-term bearish read.
- Non-10b5-1 selling at MP Materials and Oklo occurred below current prices, creating a moderately bearish signaldespite strong prior-year gains.
- Redwire’s January 2026 insider selling stands out most because it is large, concentrated, and not tied to 10b5-1 plans.
Some of the market's most volatile stocks have seen heavy insider selling recently, spanning rare earth metals, nuclear energy, and aerospace. Insider sales are often viewed as bearish, but each transaction requires context. Below we examine recent insider activity at MP Materials (NYSE: MP), Oklo (NYSE: OKLO), and Redwire (NYSE: RDW) to assess what the trades may mean. MP Insiders Drop +$40 Million Worth of Shares in 2 Months MP Materials, the rare-earth metals producer that soared 224% in 2025, has seen nearly $46 million of insider selling since the start of December 2025. The former CEO of Google calls it the most important thing to happen in 500, maybe 1,000 years of human society. A former U.S. Treasury Secretary says when your great-grandchildren write the history of this period, the political headlines will be the second or third story. The first story is something none of us have seen before. The dot-com collapse, global financial crisis, and COVID-19 pandemic don't compare to what's coming next. We may be entering a period of dramatic, almost unimaginable change. See the full warning and how to prepare now. That amount represents more than 40% of the stock's insider selling so far in 2025 and comes from two senior executives: CEO James H. Litinsky and CFO Ryan Corbett. About $19 million of those sales occurred under predetermined 10b5-1 plans, which limits their near-term bearish implications because such plans are established well before executions. The remaining roughly $26 million of sales — made between $60 and $63 per share — are more concerning. With MP trading near $69, this insider activity is a moderately bearish signal. Insider Selling Soars at OKLO as the Year Turns Oklo, an aspiring nuclear energy provider that climbed more than 100% in 2024 and surged 238% in 2025, has experienced a large wave of recent insider sales — roughly $136 million since early December 2025. Most of the sales came from CEO Jacob Dewitte, with CFO Richard Craig Bealmear also making notable sales. However, nearly all of Dewitte's sales were executed under a 10b5-1 plan. As Dewitte owns more than 10% of Oklo, these trades likely reflect a desire for liquidity from a long-term holding rather than an immediate lack of confidence. In total, only about $6.3 million of the recent sales were not part of 10b5-1 plans. The transactions occurred between $77 and $88 per share, below the current price near $95. While still a bearish signal, the context reduces the severity of the concern. RDW Insider Cashes in After Monstrous 2025 Redwire, which delivered a total return north of 470% in 2025, saw no insider selling in December but experienced a surge of sales in January 2026. In the first several weeks of the year the company recorded about $252 million in insider sales — more than 72% of the stock's insider selling since the start of 2025. None of these sales were executed under predetermined 10b5-1 plans, which makes them more bearish. The seller was AE Red Holdings, a vehicle operated by AE Industrial Partners, a private equity firm focused on national security, aerospace, and industrial services. AE sold shares between $10 and $11, below the current price near $12. That said, AE remains a more-than-10% owner, which suggests some continued conviction. Redwire's Red Flag: Insider Selling The Redwire sales are the clearest red flag among these names. MP and Oklo both show meaningful insider activity, but their trades carry mitigating context that tempers the signal. Remember that insider trading data offer signals, not definitive proof. They're most useful when combined with other indicators — fundamentals, industry developments, and broader market trends — before drawing investment conclusions.
