In a Nutshell
The Medicare initial enrollment period is a 7-month window that starts 3 months before you turn 65 (you may become eligible sooner if you have certain disabilities). However, that's not your only chance to choose your coverage.
Each year, you can use Medicare's open enrollment period (OEP) to make changes to your current plan. It's important to note that you cannot enroll in Original Medicare for the first time during OEP. There are specific enrollment periods for that purpose!
OEP runs from October 15 (today!) to December 7 every year. This is an ideal time to review your current coverage and ensure it's still the best choice for your needs.
Keep reading to learn more about Medicare offerings and find resources that can help you prepare for enrollment this year.
