Retired Cop Stops Attempted Carjacking

A retired police officer in Chattanooga stopped an attempted carjacking and kidnapping Saturday evening outside the Creative Discovery Museum.

Greg Bingham, who served 29 years in law enforcement, pulled a gun on the suspect after seeing a woman scream for help as her car with her children and father-in-law inside was nearly stolen.

Bingham credited God's hand with putting him in the right place at the right time to intervene.

The former cop added that he received a text from the mother, saying her oldest son was now inspired to become a police officer, too. Watch a report here.

Man Raises Funds to Fix Historic Town Clock

Ray Cockerham of Gainesboro has launched a GoFundMe to repair the historic Jackson County Courthouse clock, which stopped working years ago.

The 1927 Seth Thomas timepiece sits at the center of the town square and hasn't chimed in decades.

Cockerham attributed his drive to restore the clock to a simple conversation among local veterans and a wave of downtown revitalization.

The repairs are expected to cost several thousand dollars. So far, the GoFundMe has raised over $2,000.

Tennessee skies are about to get crowded as fall bird migration peaks throughout late September.
