Hi everyone,
If you're one of the millions of people who plan to be in Paris this year — whether for the Olympics in July or when things are calmer in the fall — our brand-new guide to the City of Light was made for you. It's been eight years since we last published a comprehensive-ish look at dining in Paris, and though we've regularly updated our maps on the city's essential restaurants, new spots, and boulangeries, this is the first time since then that we've pulled back to look at dining culture as a whole.
"Our guide really captures how dynamic Paris feels in this moment," says Eater deputy editor Monica Burton, who co-led this undertaking with senior editor Nicholas Mancall-Bitel. "There's so much more to the dining scene, including restaurants with stellar examples of international cuisine led by immigrant chefs (like Mexican at Oxte and Lebanese fine dining at Alan Geaam), exciting fusion at Le Cheval d'Or, and a new wave of queer cabaret." Burton has been brushing up with French lessons and episodes of The Parisian Agency ahead of her upcoming trip to Paris, and already has a reservation for Le Cheval d'Or.
You'll also find where to eat in all 20 arrondissements, an updated etiquette primer, and a feature on Belleville, the dining neighborhood du jour. We have you covered for recommendations too, from patisseries and cafes to souvenirs and day trips. And if you're only passing through en route to somewhere else in Europe? Take a peek at our 24-hour dining itinerary.
Below, as always, you'll find some of my favorite reads from the past two weeks. If you liked this email, please forward it to a friend or encourage them to sign up here.
