The nominations for the 81st annual Golden Globe Awards were revealed Monday morning, helping to kick awards season into high gear. Warner Bros’ Barbie, the year’s biggest hit, and HBO’s Succession, TV’s most dominant drama, led all nominees this morning with nine. The haul for Succession, which concluded its three-season run on HBO and Max earlier this year, was a record for a TV title. Universal’s Oppenheimer, half of the unlikely box office phenomenon known as Barbenheimer, had eight noms, while Apple Original Films’ Killers of the Flower Moon and Searchlight’s Poor Things tied with seven. The 2024 Golden Globe Awards ceremony will take place January 7, 2024, at the Beverly Hilton and air live on CBS and Paramount+. (Longtime network home NBC opted not to renew its deal.) The phrase “banality of evil” is the perfect description for Jonathan Glazer’s Cannes hit The Zone of Interest. Loosely inspired by the late Martin Amis’ 2014 novel, it centers on the Höss family — Rudolf (Christian Friedel), his wife Hedwig (Sandra Hüller) and their children — a seemingly ordinary middle-class family living in the shadow of the father’s workplace: the notorious extermination camp Auschwitz. | Farewell, Dave - Longtime Deadline reporter Dave Robb has passed away at age 74. Considered the dean of the Hollywood labor beat, Robb was recently diagnosed with inoperable cancer of the brain stem. He died peacefully at his Los Angeles home late Friday night, his wife by his side. |
