Elizabeth Debicki, who portrays Princess Diana in Seasons 5 and 6 of Netflix’s The Crown, was a nine-year-old girl in Australia when Diana died tragically in 1997 in a Paris car crash. She carried that childhood memory with her as she recreated the Princess’ final days on the Netflix drama. “I remember my mother’s reaction very, very strongly; I remember sitting on the floor of our living room and my mother was watching the funeral procession and she was weeping,” Debicki told Deadline on the red carpet for the Season 6 premiere of The Crown. The first four episodes of Season 6 chronicle the events leading to Diana’s death and its immediate aftermath, which includes visions of the late Princess engaging in conversations with the Queen and Prince Charles. Obituaries 🕯 Kevin Turen, producer of Euphoria and The Idol, died suddenly over the weekend at age 44. His cause of death is not known at this time. Turen first produced Larry Clark’s Wassup Rockers and later went on to work with Sam Levinson and produce Malcolm and Marie, Trey Shultz’s Waves, Nicholas Jarecki’s Arbitrage, Nate Parker’s The Birth of a Nation, Kornel Mondruczo’s Pieces of a Woman, Ramin Bahrani’s 99 Homes and Ti West’s X trilogy. 🕯 Robert Butler, a television director for the pilot shows for Star Trek, Batman, Hill Street Blues and Moonlighting, has died. He was 95. Butler’s family announced that the Emmy award-winning director died on Nov. 3 in Los Angeles. His two Emmys were for The Blue Knight pilot in 1973 and for Hill Street Blues in 1981. 🕯 John Bailey, the cinematographer whose credits including Oscar Best Picture-winning Ordinary People and The Big Chill and who became president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, died Friday in Los Angeles. He was 81. Bailey’s resume also included Silverado, The Accidental Tourist, Groundhog Day, In the Line of Fire, As Good as It Gets, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and Must Love Dogs across a five-decade career. 🕯Janet Landgard, who played Paul Petersen’s love interest for three seasons on The Donna Reed Show and later co-starred with Burt Lancaster in film drama The Swimmer , died Nov. 6 at age 75 of brain cancer, according to several friends on social media. 🕯 Matan Meir, a reservist in Israel’s 551st Brigade’s 697th Battalion and a crew member on Netflix drama Fauda, was acknowledged to have been “killed in action” in Gaza on the show’s official X social media account.
