'Ferrari' Revs Up - Michael Mann's epic about racing legend and carmaker Enzo Ferrari, starring Adam Driver and Penélope Cruz, has been acquired by Parasite distributor Neon, Deadline reported exclusively. A Christmas Day 2023 theatrical release date has been set after the North American rights deal was struck in a competitive situation with A24, another studio and a streamer also in the mix. In a departure from Season 1, Netflix has dropped the first five episodes of Season 2 of The Lincoln Lawyer at once, with plans to stream the remaining five episodes in August. Co-showrunner/co-creator Ted Humphrey talks about the relative ease at which they were able to pull off the split for the second season, which is based on Michael Connelly’s fourth book in the series. The long-gestating animated series from Dan Harmon will premiere September 24 with a two-episode preview following an NFL doubleheader, then take the 8:30 p.m. slot in the Animation Domination block a week later. 🔻 The New York Times said it is disbanding its sports desk and will rely on greater use of its digital site The Athletic for daily coverage. There are no plans for layoffs, but the news comes a day after the Los Angeles Times said it will no longer carry game coverage in its sports print editions as part of ongoing cutbacks. OBITUARIES 🕯 Andrea Evans, the two-time Daytime Emmy-nominated soap opera star best known for playing troublemaking teen Tina Lord on ABC's One Life to Live in the 1970s and '80s, died of cancer at age 66. 🕯 Manny Coto, an Emmy-winning writer-director and producer of the 24 franchise and American Horror Story and creator of NeXt and Odyssey 5 , died after a 13-month battle with pancreatic cancer at age 62.
