Improved screening to detect cancer cases earlier is one of the key focus areas of Europe's Beating Cancer Plan and the EU Mission on Cancer. Just last week, the European Commission presented a new EU approach of 'screening more and screening better' to combat cancer. We spoke with Professor Rebecca Fitzgerald, co-chair of the SAPEA working group supporting the EU's Scientific Advice Mechanism, to discuss the evidence for and benefits of better cancer screening.
