Official Chart Update #ChartFact The first ever winner of the BRITs Rising Star award (then known as the Critics' Choice) was Adele back in 2008! Adele's debut single Hometown Glory wasn't actually her first to reach the Official Singles Chart - it was Chasing Pavements, which peaked at Number 2. Hometown Glory joined it a couple of weeks later, eventually peaking at Number 19 in July 2008.
