Booking.com moves into £80m head office after making 450 new hires this year

Booking.com has moved into its new £80m Manchester head office after recruiting 450 new employees so far this year in the city.


The 175,000 sq ft campus at Manchester's Enterprise City will act as the headquarters for Booking.com's global Trips division.


More than 1,300 employees are set to be based at the new office while over 200 new roles are expected to be added next year.


The Manchester campus will be Booking.com's second largest international office behind its global headquarters in Amsterdam.

Co-op adds Just Eat to Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Amazon Prime deals

The Co-op has signed a deal with Just Eat to make its food and drink available to order through the platform from early next year.


The Manchester-headquartered group's deal with the delivery giant adds to its similar agreements with Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Amazon Prime.


The agreement will see customers be able to order Co-op products from 50 stores early next year.


The service is then expected to be expanded to over 1,000 Co-op stores by the spring.

Historic butchers Althams returns to profit but headcount halved

A historic butchers has returned to the black during its latest financial year as its sales surged.


Althams Catering Butchers, which is headquartered in Morecambe,  also saw its turnover jump by £7m in the year.


However, the accounts also show that the average number of people employed by the company during the year dropped to 66.


That compares to 73 in the prior year, 118 before that and 123 in the final year before the pandemic struck.

Customer retention helps vaping retailer Totally Wicked to record results

Totally Wicked has posted a record set of results for its latest financial year after being able to "maintain a material proportion of the significant number of new customers" it attracted during the Covid-19 lockdowns.


The vaping retailer has posted a turnover of £54.4m for the 12 months to March 31, 2022, up from the £43.5m it achieved during the prior year.


The Blackburn-headquartered company's pre-tax profits also increased from £1.9m to £2.3m.
