Home Sale Sets a Record for Taranaki, New Zealand
A two-story home in Taranaki, in the west of New Zealand's North Island, has sold for more than its asking price of NZ$5.45 million (US$3.35 million), becoming the most expensive home in the region. The previous record was a NZ$3.5 million sale. Built in 2019 with luxurious amenities, the home has five bedrooms and four bathrooms with a total of 6,028 square feet of living space. Hong Kong's House Market Is in a 'Depression,' Expert Says
Dismal sales at newly launched buildings in Hong Kong are pointing to a housing market in "depression," experts said. At Miami Quay in Kai Tak for example, only about 30% of the 137 apartments available are sold, as potential buyers withdraw from the market due to rising mortgage rates and a resurgence of Covid-19 cases. "The entire Hong Kong property market is in a depression," said Louis Chan, chief executive of the residential division at Centaline Property Agency. "Whichever project launches [now] will fail." An oceanfront villa in the One&Only Mandarina resort in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico, has sold for US$17.5 million, a record for the coastal area. Yet to be completed, the home has approximately 12,000 square feet of living space with eight bedrooms and eight bathrooms. The Riviera Nayarit region, stretching nearly 200 miles along the coastline, has quickly become one of Mexico's luxury home markets.
