Feb 18th 2022, 12:06, by Roshni Dhar

The prevalence of breast cancer  have gradually risen from 12 percent to 20 percent. However, cases of cervical cancer have dropped in Bengal and neighboring provinces, according to a cancer register from the Saroj Gupta Cancer Center & Research Institute (SGCC & RI) which released 'Cancer Outlook 2022', an in-depth study of the past, present and future of cancer care based on real-time data 25 years ago.

"In addition to genetic disposition, the jump in digestive cancer prevalence could be related to consumption of processed food, fast food and more people adopting the western food habit. Commonest is the cancer of the oesophagus, followed by stomach cancer, and colorectal cancer," said radiation oncologist Jyotirup Goswami of the Thakurpukur hospital.
