Senate Republicans are scrambling to develop a strategy to pass the SAVE America Act after a contentious meeting with President Trump. The president told GOP senators in blunt terms to find a path forward on the election reform bill, which could be packaged with defense spending ranging from $67 billion to $350 billion.
The House Appropriations Committee advanced a $1.1 trillion defense spending bill for fiscal 2027 that includes a provision to rename the Defense Department as the Department of War.
