Auto Parts Maker to Cut 1,200+ Jobs

Auto parts maker First Brands Group plans to close four Ohio facilities on April 30, laying off more than 1,200 workers.

Facilities in Bowling Green, Greenville, and Tiffin, along with First Brands' Cleveland corporate office, are set to shutter. Layoff totals for each site can be seen here.

The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last year.

In January, the U.S. Department of Justice charged former company executives in an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, accusing them of obtaining billions of dollars from lenders through deceptive practices.

Key Tower Climbers Raise $240,000

About 900 people climbed Cleveland's Key Tower—Ohio's tallest building—to raise money and awareness for lung disease and cancer during the 16th annual American Lung Association Fight For Air Climb.

Participants climbed more than 1,200 steps in the 57-story tower and raised more than $240,000. Firefighters, EMS personnel, and police officers were among those who took part, with firefighters climbing in full gear.

The turnout far exceeded last year's roughly 550 participants. The money raised supports American Lung Association programs and services for patients and caregivers.
