Kemp Leads European Trade Trip

Gov. Brian Kemp will lead a Georgia delegation on an economic development trip to Europe this week, amid heightened trade tensions between the United States and the European Union.

The governor's office said the group will focus on recruiting new industries and expanding existing partnerships, particularly in manufacturing and technology sectors.

The trip will include stops in Belgium and the United Kingdom, where Kemp will meet with corporate executives to promote Georgia as a business destination.

Belgium and the U.K. rank among Georgia's top 15 trade partners by dollar value, with total trade between the state and Belgium exceeding $4.8 billion in 2024.

Jones: Team Came First

Andruw Jones said his election to the Baseball Hall of Fame was never a priority during his standout 17-year career, the first 12 seasons of which were spent with the Atlanta Braves.

"To be honest, when I was playing, I never thought about possibly going to the Hall of Fame. I played the game because I love it. I played the game because I wanted to win. I played the game because I wanted to help my team win," Jones said.

Jones spoke from the Dominican Republic, where he was attending a celebrity golf tournament when the announcement came Tuesday afternoon that he was elected. You can watch his reaction here.

Jones won 10 Gold Gloves and posted 434 career home runs during a career that spanned from 1996-2012. Former Braves teammate Chipper Jones called him the best center fielder ever.
