Dyson founder calls home working rights plans 'economically illiterate' |
Hello, and welcome to Friday's edition of our South West newsletter.
For many of us, one of the continuing changes to everyday life hastened by the Covid-19 pandemic, is a greater flexibility over when, where and how we work.
For some, including yours truly, that may mean still largely working from home, with trips to the office or other public workspaces becoming once or twice-weekly occurrences - if nothing else to break the week up at times.
There have been strong opinions either way on the pros and cons of adopting the flexible working model. Sir James Dyson has drawn his line in the sand on the matter, dubbing new government plans to allow millions of workers the ability to request flexibility from day one of their employment, as "economically illiterate".
In a scathing assessment of the policy, the founder of the Wiltshire-based tech and household appliances firm said the plans would "hamper employers' ability to organise their workforce".
