Welcome to the last Professional Services newsletter from us before Christmas.

As we get ready to wind down for the festivities, it is a good time to reflect on what has been quite a year.

Against a backdrop of extraordinary political upheaval, war in Ukraine and the continued aftershocks of the Covid-19 pandemic and Brexit, business has been doing its best to keep calm and carry on.

As we moved past the lockdowns and disruption of 2020 and 2021, there will be few who lament the end of 2022 and all the challenges it has brought with it.

But there are still very good reasons to be cheerful.

One of which is this latest development coming from Cornwall and what happens next for the UK's first ever space launch.

Due to have taken place this side of Christmas, the launch of Virgin Orbit's Cosmic Girl from Spaceport Cornwall has been delayed by paperwork.

But it looks as though that has now been resolved for this historic moment to happen in the New Year.

Transport secretary Mark Harper, who has granted the licences, said the launch would reinforce the UK's position as a "leading space nation".

This really will be something to look forward to.
