Bappi da left the world in his sleep. The cause of his death is said to be obstructive sleep apnea. This is a kind of medical condition, which is related to our sleep. Obstructive sleep apnea is a type of sleep disorder, due to which breathing stops during sleep. Actually that part of our brain, which is associated with breathing system, the connection of both of them gets interrupted in obstructive sleep apnea. Many scientific studies point to the fact that people suffering from obstructive sleep apnea have a higher death risk.

Many big celebrities in the world have left the world untimely due to this health condition, ranging from US President William Harvard Taft to Carrie Fisher.

In 1988, the world's longest sleep study, called the Wisconsin Sleep Cohort Study, was started, which lasted about 20 years. In this study, an attempt was made to look at the mortality rate associated with obstructive sleep apnea. Researchers studied 1522 people involved in this study for 18 years. When the study started, the age of those people was between 30 years and 60 years.

All the participants in the study spent one night at the University of Wisconsin's General Clinical Research Center, where they were tested for detailed polysomnography. Polysomnography test is a sleep test, through which all types of sleep disorders ranging from insomnia are checked. In the Detailed Polysomnography Test, it was seen that in which category they fall in the apnea-hypopnea index ie AHI. That is, how is the quality of their sleep, how many times their breathing stops during sleep, that is, how often does the breathing pause happen and what is its effect on the quality of sleep. Out of 1552 participants, 63 people i.e. about 4 percent people had the problem of severe sleep apnea. Within an hour, his breathing was going from 30 to 97 times in a state of pause. Apnea index pause was found to be less than 5 in 76 percent of the people involved in the study i.e. 1157 people.

After 20 years, in 2008, the researchers again followed up with all the participants. Obviously many of them had died by then. In the follow up study, it was seen that the cause of death was recorded on his death certificate. In 2008, 80 people involved in the study had died, out of which 37 people died due to cancer. 25 people died due to cardiovascular diseases and heart attacks.

19 percent of those who died were people who had been found to be suffering from severe apnea 20 years ago in the detailed polysomnography test and Apnea Hypopnea Index. Only 4% of people who had a low number of apnea hypopnea index died from other health causes.

This is the longest study to date to understand the relationship of obstructive sleep apnea with mortality rates. It was clear from this study that if you do not sleep well, if you suffer from obstructive sleep apnea, if your number is high in the Apnea Hypopnea Index, then your health is at higher risk than a normal person. You are at higher risk of heart diseases, heart attack, stroke, brain hemorrhage and premature death.

The biggest problem with obstructive sleep apnea is that the disease goes undiagnosed for a long time. Especially if a person lives alone, he will never know what his sleeping pattern is. When there are people around us, many times they see that someone's breathing is stopping in sleep or someone's sleep is being disrupted in other ways or that a person's snoring or snoring is too much.

Another study in Spain has pointed out that obstructive sleep apnea is detected very late in people living alone. Many times they do not even know that they are suffering from this disease and they also lose their lives.
