This is the story of Ganga Harjeevan Das Kathiawadi, who grew up in Kathiawad, Gujarat. Ganga's father is a barrister. Ganga belongs to a good family. However, at the age of 16, Ganga falls in love. That too with Ramnik, who worked with his father. Studied till ninth grade, Ganga runs away from Gujarat to Mumbai with Ramnik to fulfill her dream of becoming an actress one day. It is Ramnik who shows her dreams of becoming an actress in Mumbai and brings her to Mumbai by trapping her in his love. review

The story which is written on Gangubai in the books and which is lying on the internet tells a lot in itself. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has failed to portray that painful and hair-raising story of Gangubai on the big screen. Sanjay Leela Bhansali could not show in this film as much as the story based on the real character should be affected. The story of Gangubai has only been told, that too as much as Hussain Zaidi has written in his book. If a film is made on a person who is a real character, then it is very important to do research on it.

This is the biggest negative point of the film that not much research was done to effectively depict Gangubai's journey from Ganga to Gangu. Had the makers wanted, they could have also depicted Gangubai's childhood and her relationship with her family, which would have given a boost to the film as to how Ganga decided to leave her family. The one with whom Ganga elopes is immediately entered in the story, neither does it show how Ganga and Ramnik come close to each other. The love story of Ganga and Ramnik could have been depicted a little better.

After this, when Ganga reached Kamathipura, what happened to her in the beginning, she also appeared missing from the film. There were small things in the film that could be worked on. The relationship between Gangubai and Don Karim Lala could have been presented more beautifully, but the makers failed to do so. What was lacking in the biggest film was that we could not really know about Gangubai, who was Ganga after all, how was her behavior, what did the people around her think about her, how was her childhood?

Should I watch the movie or not?

If anyone is the life of the film, then it is absolutely Alia Bhatt. Seeing Alia Bhatt on the big screen, it is clear that she has worked hard for the character of Gangubai. Alia Bhatt has done a great acting. Not only this, a change was also seen in Alia Bhatt's voice. The way Alia has delivered dialogues in a strong voice to show her awe, it is amazing. Apart from Alia, the acting of Seema Pahwa, Vijay Raj and Shantanu Mishra and other co-stars has also been tremendous. However, Ajay Devgan has looked a bit pale in front of all these.

At the same time, talking about direction, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film did not enjoy it. Sanjay Leela Bhansali tried to make a biopic for the first time, but he appeared unsuccessful to us in it. Then whether it is in research or in direction and story. Nothing can be said on this film will keep the audience engaged. However, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has to be praised for giving good music to the songs of the film. We have liked two songs from the film, one is 'Dholida' and the other is 'Jab Saiyan'. Both these songs are the life of the film.

Although a book has been written on Gangubai, but if you are not fond of books, but want to be familiar with the story of Gangubai, then you can definitely watch Alia Bhatt's film 'Gangubai Kathiawadi'. If you have learned about Gangubai with ease, then you can also skip watching this film.
